Recommended #HomeCooking Blog: “My Favorite Maruchan ZUBAAAN Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen After a Long Time! My Personal Rules for Eating It”
At Recommended #HomeCooking, I’ve recently gotten into the habit of boiling a large batch of spaghetti and eating it little by little over several days. This time, I finally finished the last of the cooked pasta. I debated whether to make crispy fried noodles, but in the end I decided on ramen instead.
I had recently bought one of my all-time favorites, Maruchan ZUBAAAN! Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen, for the first time in a while, so I couldn’t resist making it. I remember eating tonkotsu ramen at a yatai (street food stall) when I visited Hakata years ago.
For today’s toppings, I simply used what I had in the refrigerator: cabbage, onion, and pork. Perhaps because I hadn’t eaten it for a while, the flavor seemed richer than I remembered. The saltiness stood out, and the taste and aroma of the thin noodles also caught my attention. Whether the recipe has changed or my own sense of taste has changed, I’m not sure—but in a good way, it reminded me of the authentic flavor of ramen from a Hakata street stall.
I also have my own personal rules when eating tonkotsu ramen. I always add plenty of toasted sesame seeds and garlic, while using only a small amount of pickled red ginger and nori seaweed. I used to have a few more “rules,” so I decided to look back and see what they were. Ideally, I would also have a boiled egg, chashu pork, and naruto fish cake, but I don’t have those on hand at the moment, so my routine has changed a little.
Below are some of the tonkotsu ramen dishes I previously posted on X.
